A visit to the midwife and a chocolate...

...So today has seen us visit the midwife for the first time.  Finally having this baby is starting to feel more real and a little bit more exciting :o)

We went through a host of questions both health and personal.  I was weighed and had a batch of blood taken for all manner of tests.  Once we'd been given a library of paperwork, pamphlets and discount vouchers (bring on the shopping) the midwife, Hayley, asked if we wanted to see if we could hear the heartbeat.  I hopped up on that bed super quick!  Sadly baby D was hiding but it was amazing just to hear everything inside moving about!  Hayley filled in our scan request and we just have to sit tight now and hope that its not the week we are away!

Week 9-10 sees baby D being about the size of a chocolate, one of my favourite things!  So I picked one of my favourite types of chocolates to show this.  My baby app tells me that we are also grape/prune sized but I'm afraid chocolates definitely win out on the size comparison.
Baby D now has its first gift.  Grandma D-to-be came down for a visit this Easter and bought with her the very lovely zebra, just in keeping with what we are thinking colour scheme wise for baby's room and general feel.

We also took a visit to the New Forest Lavender for a cuppa and a slice of amazing, still warm, dusted w icing sugar and served with stems of lavender for decoration Lavender and Apple cake.

While I cannot find a recipe for that cake I have found:
http://www.allotment.org.uk/recipe/1375/lavender-tea-cake-recipe/ as always if anyone attempts it please let me try a slice!!

Oh and I did make Easter bonnets too...
