The humble poppy seed...

...who knew such a small item could represent so much?  Currently this is the size of baby Doherty.

It feels rather odd knowing I am pregnant and yet not really having anything to show for it.  I don't feel any different at the moment, I sure don't look any different and nothing has really changed, other than no more nice cheese for a while...

Over the next few weeks and months I plan to nab my US friends blogging habit and do something slightly un-english and publicly document (whilst trying not to think about everyone reading it!) how these weeks pass with any exciting events and probably some references to cake.

In deciding on a name for this blog and probably a nick name that will develop for baby D I started by going down the chocolate line, surprise!  I had images of comparing baby sizes to chocolate bars etc.  Sadly when I thought this through I went from mini egg, to creme egg, to the length of a chocolate bar and then promptly ran out...  So cake seem like the next best option, it being another love of mine both making and eating.

To start things rolling I have found a cake that uses poppy seeds, if some one decides to make it please let me try a slice!
